Railways thrashed Karnataka by eight wickets in the final of the 2021 Senior Women's One-Day Trophy final at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. They bundled out Karnataka for 74 in 38 overs and reached the target in 22.2 overs to secure its 13th title in the last 15 editions of the tournament.
After the semi-finals – Karnataka versus Punjab and Railways versus Bengal – were abandoned, both Railways and Karnataka had qualified for the final based on superior net run rate. The final, however, was all but a one-sided affair.
With 4-14, Renuka Singh did the most damage for Railways. Sneh Rana returned excellent figures of 7-3-10-2, and Swagatika Rath 5-2-7-2. Ekta Bisht (8-1-11-0) and Rajeshwari Gayakwad (5-2-5-0) bowled tightly without wickets, while Meghna Singh took two wickets.
For Karnataka, Nikki Prasad top-scored with 72-ball 21. V. Chandu (2 in 42 balls) tried valiantly but failed to prevent her side from getting bowled out. Apart from Prasad, Gnanananda Divya (12) and Prathyoosha Kumar (16) were the only Karnataka batters to reach double digits.
Railways rode on Sabbhineni Meghana’s 43-ball 36 to finish things off quickly. Nuzhat Parween (20*) and Dayalan Hemalatha (17*) also chipped in with useful contributions to win by eight wickets in hand. For Karnataka, Sahana Pawar and Shreyanka Patil claimed a wicket apiece.
