India Women allowed Australia to recover from a precarious 79/8 in the 16th over to post a modest 129/8, only to lose their first warm-up match ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

Georgia Wareham's (32 not out) and Jess Jonassen's (22 not out) rearguard innings helped Australia recover from a difficult situation at Newlands. As Australia reached 129/8 in 20 overs, Wareham and Jonassen added 50 runs for the unfinished ninth wicket partnership.

In response, India Only three batters reached double figures as the women were bowled out for 85 in 15 overs. Darcie Brown scored 4-17 for Australia, demonstrating their strength and living up to their status as favourites to win the tournament.

Australia's depth shone through once again as they clawed their way out of a hole to defeat India by a comfortable margin.

Shikha Pandey miserly on her way to figures of two for nine, including Meg Lanning and Tahlia McGrath, reduced Australia to 79 for eight batting first.

Chasing a target of 130, India quickly fell to 22 for four, with Darcie Brown leading the way with four for 17. India's innings never got going, with Deepti Sharma leading the way with an unbeaten 19 as they were bowled out for 86.
