Rumana Ahmed’s unbeaten 44-ball 50 helped Bangladesh chase 202 against Pakistan with three wickets and two balls to spare in the opening match of the Women's World Cup Qualifier 2021. Ritu Moni (33 in 37 balls) and Salma Khatun (18* in 13) also played aggressively to make up for Bangladesh's slow start. Nashra Sandhu and Nida Dar combined for 2-41 in their 20 overs, but was not enough.

Earlier, Dar’s 111-ball 87 and Aliya Riaz’s unbeaten 82-ball 61 revived Pakistan from 49/5 after they were asked to bat. They closed on 201/7. Nahida Akter returned 2-25.

Zimbabwe Women v Thailand Women

In Match 2, Zimbabwe’s spirited performance while chasing 248 against Thailand went in vain despite spirited efforts from Josephine Nkomo (56) and Mary-Anne Musonda (69* in 65). They fell eight runs short of the target. Rosenan Kanoh (7-1-17-0) and Thipatcha Putthawong (9-1-29-0) bowled accurately to help Thailand register a hard-fought win.

Earlier, five Thai batters – Nattakan Chantham, Sornnarin Tippoch, Nannapat Koncharoenkai, Naruemol Chaiwai and Chanida Sutthiruang – scored 30 or more to take their side to 247/6. Loreen Tshuma was the pick of the Zimbabwe bowler, with 2-35.
