South Africa won the second Test by 198 runs to maintain their record of not losing a Test series to New Zealand. After losing the first Test match by an innings and 276 runs, Dean Elgar's side made a remarkable comeback, riding on hundreds from Saral Erwee and Kyle Verreynne to post a mammoth target. Kagiso Rabada finished with eight wickets, and Marco Jansen with seven.
With three wins and two defeats, South Africa are at fourth place in the points table of the World Test Championship 2021-23. Defending champions New Zealand, meanwhile, have now slipped to sixth place. With a 100 percent point conversion rate so far, Sri Lanka is at the top.
